New Medical Clinic Offers ‘Rise and Shine’ Program
Winnipeggers who want to see a doctor without interrupting their work or school schedule now have another option: waking up early and going to a new clinic on Broadway Avenue.

The Four Rivers Medical Clinic operates a Rise & Shine Clinic that opens its doors each weekday at 7 a.m. and offers patients both walk-in and booked appointments with physicians, as well as the services of a full pharmacy on site.

Both female and male physicians at the 16,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art clinic are accepting new patients.

The new clinic, one of three Four Rivers Medical Clinics operated by The Jorgenson Group, also has "Telemedicine Facilities," which allow physicians to offer distance-based services to remote communities across Manitoba.

MLA Rob Altemeyer, who attended the opening of the Broadway location, says the company's commitment to delivering a high level of service will benefit the community.

"As the MLA for this neighbourhood, I am very pleased to see the Four Rivers Medical Clinic open up and provide very valuable healthcare services to local citizens," Altemeyer said.

The Four Rivers Medical Clinics, which employ more than 35 physicians and 30 support staff, have made their mark by providing extra convenience and service to their patients. Some of these include an After Hours Clinic at the Main Street location that allows patients to book an appointment with a physician until as late as 10:00 p.m., onsite pharmacies at all locations so prescriptions can be filled right on the spot, and free home delivery of prescriptions. They even offer a House Calls Service that brings physicians to the homes of patients who are physically unable to go to the clinic. The service is offered seven days a week, at no additional cost to the patient.

Rupinder Brar, president of the clinic's parent company, The Jorgenson Group, says patients can expect even more services in the future, such as a completely integrated website that will allow patients to request and confirm appointments online at any one of their three clinics, gather information on the clinics, see physician's profiles and view pictures of the clinics.

He added that all three of the Four Rivers Medical Clinics will soon benefit from technological advances under development. "We are working with a company in India to develop an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system that will completely automate all of our clinics," Brar said.

The International division of the Jorgenson Group employs a number of staff from abroad. They are developing software designed to revolutionize healthcare in Manitoba, with hopes to implement with the rest of Canada.

The company plans to introduce the EHR product to Four Rivers Medical Clinics in Winnipeg in fall of 2007 with the help of IT professionals from India.

The Four Rivers Medical Clinics are located at 878 Main Street, 1800 Logan Avenue and 647 Broadway Avenue. Full details on the clinics and the services they provide are available online at www.fourriversmedical.com
